CANDACE CHATMAN
INSTRUCTOR
PILATES
Candace is high energy. She moves throughout the room a lot to make sure she can see everyone and offer corrections if needed. She comes with a lot of humor and keeps everyone laughing (laughter works the core). The goal is for them to be having so much fun they do not realize how hard they are working. She cheers everyone on, and hopefully makes them feel like they 'got this!' She absolutely loves seeing the look on someone's face when they do something they thought they could not do. She celebrates everyone's accomplishments. Her classes are challenging but she pushes people to get stronger.
Candace teaches a contemporary for beginners, but as they move forward to more challenging levels it becomes contemporary with a twist and somewhat athletic. She is always looking to try new moves but she can definitely read the room and make adjustments if necessary. Candace is a stickler for correct form and she tries to offer cues with non-anatomy terms, i.e., 'your booty' as opposed to 'glutes' to make clients more comfortable.
When Candace first became a student of Pilates in 2005, she was immediately hooked. Her physical health, flexibility, and mind-body awareness were just a few of the benefits that kept her coming back for more. She received her Stott Pilates Instructor Certification in 2018. During the recent Covid lockdown in 2020, and after being furloughed from her corporate job, she began working in a physical therapy clinic which gave her the opportunity to help many people recovering from injuries and surgeries. She enjoys teaching small group classes and working with private clients, where she shares her love of Pilates and helping people move better and work toward their physical goals. She is dedicated to continuing her education, learning new techniques, researching, and pursuing more knowledge of physical anatomy and how our bodies work. Get ready for a challenge, served with lots of energy, and some laughs along the way.
